Every ‘Pinktober‘, breast cancer awareness campaigns target women across the region - except the 4.7 million hearing and speech impaired women. All 300 universally used sign languages cover up to 140,000 words, except two life-saving ones: ‘cancerous’ and ‘lumps’. Emirates NBD, the region’s largest bank that believes in inclusivity, worked with Arabic sign language experts to create two unique new signs for ‘cancerous’ ‘lumps’. These signs were integrated into a graphic design language developed entirely with hand gestures - used to teach hearing impaired women how to self-check for breast cancer. <img width="1714" OF ABU DHABI No-one agency 2023 Abu Dhabi Festival In 2024, Abu Dhabi Festival (ADF) remained a leading force in the UAE’s vibrant arts and culture scene. For 21 years, the Festival had nurtured creativity and innovation while empowering the nation’s youth. It had long commissioned, produced, and presented world-renowned music and art legends alongside emerging talents. In 2024, ADF set out to transform the festival to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the most recognized festivals worldwide, aiming to attract performers and audiences from across the globe. We partnered with ADF that year to create a new visual identity and brand expression that would distinguish them from other festivals and position ADF on the right trajectory i.e shifting perceptions toward a more dynamic, youthful, and vibrant festival experience. The identity drew inspiration from one of the most iconic elements of performance arts: the spotlight. Being in the spotlight was the ultimate achievement for any artist, and it became the defining feature of ADF’s communication and brand expressions i.e an adaptable, dynamic element that came to life Arabic is in use from past 2,500 years, making it one of the oldest and beautiful languages in the world but also the most complex to learn. It has 12 million distinct words and every letter follows a similar structure.&nbsp;Making it even more difficult to read and write for the 84.7 million Arabs with dyslexia.&nbsp;Hessa, is one of them and with the help of her and the Arabic Typeface designers we developed Maqroo.Stage 1: Research It is important to understand how they perceive the fonts. So, we analyzed 650 Arabic fonts to track their reading and stress levels.Stage 2: Developing Arabic letters have the same structure, so to make them distinctive in their characteristics - the key is irregularity. It has many distinctive marks and dots that alters the meaning, so we increased the size of the marks by 200%.&nbsp;We designed each letter to be distinctively recognizable through their irregularities. And we increased the heights of the letters to enhance the readability.&nbsp;We launched Maqroo using Omantel's network and made every digital device dyslexic-friendly through a smart web browser extension. As one of Oman’s most recognized and iconic brands, Omantel’s brand refresh needed to be handled carefully. So we dug into Oman’s culture and creativity and found inspiration from the Khanjar. By re-imagining the Khanjar’s curves and angles, we created a symbol and language that felt both fresh and familiar, modern and authentic, minimal and rich. But with bigger and more established NGOs vying for their attention (and donations), a small but significant organisation like SPNL and Homat Al Hima International needed to do something different to stand out.&nbsp;We recreated the sonics of big brands in the voice of the endangered animals. Intel’s sonic was recreated in the voice of the Galapagos Penguin, BMW’s in the voice of the Arabian Owl, VISA’s in the voice of the Humpback Dolphin, and so on.&nbsp;We tagged the big brands on social media in our audio requests and invited them to use the endangered animals’ sonics in their communication. So, PUMA created SPF Game Face,&nbsp; a face paint that doubled as sunblock, protecting men’s skin while showing team pride. Available in multiple shades matching popular club colors, it made sun safety part of the game-day ritual. PUMA activated the campaign at stadiums, stores, and online, aligning it with peak UV days and major matches. To match its vision, it was essential to introduce the festival with a distinctive and impactful visual identity that set it on a level of its own. The design rationale was inspired by the captivating experiences reflected in the sand and the profound impact of solfeggio frequencies. Embodying the essence of the festival, the design sought to establish a connection with the vast desert sands and harmonious solfeggio frequencies. Customers could bring in any worn-out shoes, from any brand, and exchange them at PUMA for a discount on their next purchase. The program not only inspired athletes and everyday movers to push their limits without worry but also reinforced PUMA’s commitment to sustainability.
